Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
COLUMBUS, OH – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) will help more than two dozen communities and organizations make an environmental impact as Ohioans strengthen local recycling and litter prevention efforts.
Twenty-six communities will receive ODNR Community Development Grants to expand residential and commercial recycling programs, initiate new ones and revitalize others. The projects, which include construction material recycling, curbside and drop-off recycling programs and organic material processing, will allow individuals and businesses in Ohio to reduce the waste they generate and the negative impact of that waste.
“Recycling conserves energy and natural resources, while creating jobs,” said ODNR Director Sean Logan. “It is part of a comprehensive waste and resource reduction strategy that benefits our natural world and our economy.”
Ohio counties, solid waste management districts/authorities, municipalities and other local governments are eligible for these grants. Grant communities are required to commit local matching funds toward their project.
The ODNR Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention is responsible for implementing statewide waste reduction, recycling, recycling market development and litter prevention programs. The division encourages Ohioans to reduce waste, recycle materials and buy recycled-content products. For more information, visit www.ohiodnr.com/recycling.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources ensures a balance between wise use and protection of our natural resources for the benefit of all. Visit the ODNR Web site at www.ohiodnr.com.
