Wetlands Hike at Tinker's Creek State Nature Preserve
Event part of the family-friendly Natural Areas Discovery Series
STREETSBORO, OHIO—Ohio’s wetlands are a marvel of unique plant communities, wildlife inhabitants and fragile landscape. Visitors are invited to join a wetland hike at Tinker’s Creek State Nature Preserve, part of the Natural Areas Discovery Series, on Saturday, May 22 at 10:30 a.m. in Portage County.
This naturalist-led hike will focus on the remarkable wetland complex found at Tinker’s Creek which provides high quality habitat for a number of wildlife, waterfowl and native plant species. Visitors will learn how the value of a wetland and the impact these critical areas have on local ecosystems.
Tinker’s Creek, a 786-acre site, features extensive wetlands and excellent wildlife viewing, including a new trail featuring excellent bald eagle viewing opportunities. For event information, call (440) 632-3010.
Children who hike with their families during the special events and throughout the year can receive credit towards the ODNR Explore the Outdoors Hike a Trail activity. Explore the Outdoors is a hands-on family program that gives Ohio children the opportunity to reunite with nature, improve their physical and emotional health and discover the rewards of becoming environmental stewards.
