ODNR and new local business improve amenities at Rocky Fork State Park

HILLSBORO, OH – A mutually beneficial economic partnership between Rocky Fork State Park and a local business couple, has resulted in new marina-related services being available to boaters and anglers, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

“We approached the park and found them to be very receptive to the idea of offering services at the east end of the lake,” said Kim Slaughter.

Rocky Fork Marine LLC, operated by Dan and Kim Slaughter, has leased the lower level of the East Shore Overlook Building at Rocky Fork State Park. The space had been used by the park as meeting space. The couple have entered into a short-term contract to expand their operations.

“Working with local businesses, like Rocky Fork Marine LLC, helps Ohio State Parks offer an enhanced experience for state park visitors,” said John Hunter, acting chief of the Division of Parks and Recreation. “The newly added retail area offers new products and services, which will benefit recreational boating at Rocky Fork State Park.”

The marina is now offering sales of boat parts and supplies and bait and tackle.  Other amenities will include a water taxi service and marine repairs.
