Delaware State Park To Unveil Marina Improvements

Public invited to attend ribbon cutting ceremony

DELAWARE, OH – A ribbon cutting and dedication of the recently completed renovations at the Delaware State Park marina will take place on Friday, June 18 at 2 p.m., according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

Improvements for boaters include replacement of floating docks and gangways, new dock anchorage piles and new boat fueling and sewage pump-out systems.  A new, accessible restroom building provides a welcome comfort stop for boaters, fishermen and other park visitors at the marina area.  The project was completed for a total cost of $1.9 million.

“Marinas remain one of the most cost-effective investments in public lands,” said ODNR Director Sean Logan. “They expand public access, attract new tourists and tourism dollars to local economies, improve safety and comfort, and open our natural resources for the benefit of all.”

Design services for the project were provided by Karl Rohrer Associates of Akron.  Anderzack-Pitzen Construction Inc. of Metamora served as the general contractor for the project, with Owens Electric Company, Inc. of Marion serving as the electrical subcontractor.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony, which will take place at the main marina building.  From the park entrance, proceed 1 mile to the Walnut Grove Picnic Area.  Turn left and proceed approximately ½ mile to the marina.
