Buckeye Lake State Park To Unveil North Shore Improvements
Public invited to attend ribbon cutting ceremony
MILLERSPORT, OH – A ribbon cutting and dedication of recently completed renovations at Buckeye Lake’s North Shore boat launch ramp area will take place on Thursday, July 22 at 10 a.m., according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).
The final phase of the five-year project was completed this spring at a total cost of $625,000. Improvements for boaters include replacement of the existing two-lane boat launch ramp with a three-lane concrete ramp and additional boarding docks. The entrance road to the facility was widened to offer make-ready and tie-down lanes. Floating courtesy docks were installed including docks for personal watercraft.
The project also provided additional parking, including designated handicapped accessible parking spaces, for cars and vehicles with trailers. In cooperation with the village of Buckeye Lake, a dry hydrant was installed for fire-fighting operations.
“Facilities for boating and fishing remain one of the most cost-effective investments in public lands,” said ODNR Director Sean Logan. “They expand public access for these popular activities, which are ideal ways to introduce youngsters to the outdoors.”
The public is invited to attend the ceremony, which will take place at the North Shore area off State Route 79, near the village of Buckeye Lake.
