Norcross Promoted to ODNR Watercraft Deputy Chief
COLUMBUS – Morrow County resident Rodger Norcross has been promoted to the position of deputy chief in the Division of Watercraft, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). He replaces former Deputy Chief Michael Quinn who retired earlier this year.
In his new position, Norcross will be responsible for statewide law enforcement and search and rescue operations for the Division of Watercraft. Additionally, he will supervise all field operations conducted from 11 area offices statewide and the division’s public information and education programs, which are based out of the Columbus headquarters.
Before joining the department, Norcross served as a Boatswain Mate Second Class with the U.S. Coast Guard. He began his ODNR career in 1988 with the Division of Watercraft as a watercraft officer in Sandusky where he was promoted to Sandusky area supervisor in 1994. In 1998, he was promoted to administrator of the division’s law enforcement and search and rescue programs in Columbus.
From 2000-2009, Norcross served as an administrator in ODNR’s Office of Law Enforcement where he played a key role in administering operations at the statewide Communications Center, including coordinating ODNR’s response through the State Emergency Operation Center.
Norcross returned to the Division of Watercraft in 2009 as area supervisor of the Alum Creek office. He also continues to serve as a volunteer firefighter assistant chief in his local community.
