Fall Color remains peak throughout most of southern Ohio, with the golds and russets of hickories and oaks dominating the landscape in the southern third of the state.
OHIO FALL COLOR UPDATE #5 – NOVEMBER 1
EDITORS NOTE: This is the fifth in a series of Fall Color updates, highlighting some of the best places and ways to enjoy autumn in Ohio.
COLUMBUS, OH – Fall Color remains peak throughout most of southern Ohio, with the golds and russets of hickories and oaks dominating the landscape in the southern third of the state, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).
"You’ll need to head south if you want to see Fall Color this weekend,” said Casey Munchel, Fall Color specialist with the ODNR Division of Forestry. “With mild weather forecast for the weekend, this might be the very last opportunity this year to get out and enjoy the sights of the season.”
Sunny skies and temperatures in the low 60s are forecast for most of Ohio on Saturday and Sunday, making it a pleasant time to get outside for a hike, bike ride or leisurely drive through the countryside.
Shawnee State Park in Scioto County will offer a naturalist-led hike on the Lookout Trail at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 3. For additional information, call 740-858-6652.
Mt. Gilead State Park in Morrow County will hold its annual Snowflake Festival on Friday and Saturday, November 2-3.
Malabar Farm State Park in Richland County will host a Hearthside Cookery Workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 4.
Van Buren State Park in Hancock County will sponsor a seminar on feeding wild birds in winter at 2 p.m. on the same day.
