Strengthening Ohio’s recycling industry, creating jobs and increasing local markets for recycled materials are benefits of the Market Development Grant program, according to ODNR.
COLUMBUS, OH – Strengthening Ohio’s recycling industry, creating jobs and increasing local markets for recycled materials are benefits of the Market Development Grant program, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

ODNR is funding sixteen communities who are partnering with private sector businesses through the program to create up to 110 new jobs in Ohio and includes:
  • the purchase of equipment for one construction demolition & debris facility, which will allow the company to process material at the construction site
  • fund three processing facilities, including the final phase of the Rumpke Consolidated glass processing facility
  • three product manufacturers
  • continue the expansion of organic recycling in Ohio with equipment purchases for three Class II facilities and a new transporting company in Central Ohio
  • the modernization of five material recovery facilities, the majority of which are converting to single stream collection

“These projects represent a great boost for our environment and a highly efficient use of public dollars,” said ODNR Director David Mustine. “They create jobs, attract and support new business and technology, redirect valuable materials out of the waste stream.”

Ohio counties, solid waste management districts/authorities, municipalities and other local governments and businesses are eligible for these grants. A match of at least 100 percent of the grant amount is required.

The ODNR Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention is responsible for implementing statewide waste reduction, recycling, recycling market development and litter prevention programs. The division encourages Ohioans to reduce waste, recycle materials and buy recycled-content products. For more information, visit www.ohiodnr.com/recycling.

ODNR ensures a balance between wise use and protection of our natural resources for the benefit of all. Visit the ODNR web site at www.ohiodnr.com.
