COLUMBUS, OH - Ohio State Parks officers will kick off a road safety campaign as part of the Click It or Ticket program on May 23, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

This effort which continues through June 5, is a partnership of some 900 law enforcement agencies in Ohio that resulted in increased seat belt use in the state last year to 84 percent. The goal for 2011 is 85 percent seat belt use.

In addition to focused enforcement of traffic rules in Ohio State Parks, the officers will be participating in education programs for visitors about road safety. This program is the latest chapter in traffic enforcement that Ohio State Parks officers have conducted since 1990.

Ohio’s 75 state parks encompass nine resort lodges, six golf courses, more than 500 cottages, and 56 family campgrounds with more than 9,000 campsites.

The ODNR ensures a balance between wise use and protection of our natural resources for the benefit of all. Visit the ODNR Web site at ohiodnr.com.
