ODNR, Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention is counting on you to help make this year’s Red, White & Boom another huge success.
COLUMBUS, OH — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention is counting on you to help make this year’s Red, White & Boom another huge success. Event goers will be seeing green once again as 250 recycling containers will be available throughout the area for the attendees to utilize. Events like Red, White & Boom generate a large amount of waste, and organizers are fully committed to minimizing the amount going into landfills.

Each of the 250 containers are 96-gallon, wheeled carts that are easily identified by bright yellow lids and green bodies. People in attendance for Friday’s festivities are encouraged to recycle the same materials as they do at home, including: aluminum cans, glass, plastic bottles; paper objects such as programs, newspapers, magazines and beverage cartons.

“We are incredibly proud of our partnership with Rumpke Recycling and Red, White & BOOM! and hope to encourage other communities in Ohio to develop recycling opportunities at their events,” said Terrie TerMeer, Assistant Chief, ODNR Division of Recycling and Litter Prevention.

In previous years, the event has helped collect and recycle over 23.5 tons of recyclable items. Attendees at last year’s Red, White & Boom alone recycled over 11 tons of materials and 490,000 beverage containers.  Partners have seen a dramatic increase in the amount of recyclables collects from previous years and expect an even greater amount of recyclables to be collected this year.

The ODNR ensures a balance between wise use and protection of our natural resources for the benefit of all. Visit the ODNR Web site at ohiodnr.com.
