The current 10 horsepower limit for boats operating on Charles Mill Lake near Mansfield will remain unchanged.
COLUMBUS, OH – The current 10 horsepower limit for boats operating on Charles Mill Lake near Mansfield will remain unchanged, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD). The lake, located in Ashland and Richland counties, is a MWCD reservoir and managed for recreation in cooperation with the ODNR.
A petition presented last year to the ODNR Division of Watercraft and the MWCD requested that the horsepower limit on Charles Mill Lake be increased to 30 hp.
Three public hearings were held to accept comments and suggestions, and to discuss proposed alternate solutions. However, a consensus could not be achieved on either of the original petition request or an alternate solution.
Information about Charles Mill Lake is available on the MWCD website at www.mwcd.org.
The ODNR ensures a balance between wise use and protection of our natural resources for the benefit of all. Visit the ODNR Web site at www.ohiodnr.com.
