ODNR Director James Zehringer today announced two new appointments to the department’s senior management team: Frederick M. Shimp will serve as assistant director and Andy Ware as deputy director.
COLUMBUS, OH - Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Director James Zehringer today announced two new appointments to the department’s senior management team: Frederick M. Shimp will serve as assistant director and Andy Ware as deputy director.
Shimp will oversee ODNR’s day-to-day operations in addition to the department’s policies and procedures. Shimp most recently served as assistant director at the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA). Prior to joining ODA he served as district director for Congressman Jim Jordan. He also was a former deputy director and legislative liaison for ODA during the Voinovich and Taft administrations. Shimp earned his bachelor’s degree in political science at The Ohio State University.
As deputy director, Ware will oversee ODNR’s divisions of Coastal Management, Forestry, Geological Survey, Mineral Resources Management, Soil and Water Resources, and Recycling. He recently served as deputy director and communications director for the Department of Agriculture. Prior to that appointment, Ware served for seven years as the assistant chief of ODNR’s Division of Forestry and before that as media relations manager. Ware is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural communications.
