Popular boardwalk for bird watchers not affected, remains open for use

FINDLAY, OH - The Sportsmen’s Migratory Bird Center (SMBC) located at Magee Marsh Wildlife Area will be closed to the public until further notice due to a water leak on the second floor of the building according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

Water damaged the restrooms and the aquarium room on the first floor, but fortunately none of the displays were damaged by the water leak. According to ODNR’s Division of Wildlife, professional engineers will examine the building to evaluate the extent of the damage to the structure and electrical systems of the facility.

Once the report from the engineers has been received, options to repair the facility will be evaluated. Continue to monitor the Division of Wildlife’s website at www.wildohio.com and local media sources for when the SMBC will be reopened to the public.

ODNR ensures a balance between wise use and protection of our natural resources for the benefit of all. Visit the ODNR website at www.ohiodnr.com.
