MCARTHUR, OH - The Buzzard Cave Trail at Lake Hope State Park in Vinton County is again dressed in 50,000 lights for the annual "Holiday Trail of Lights" event. Animated displays, decorated trees and landscapes dot the quarter-mile trail, which is adjacent to the park's nature center.
Access to the "Holiday Trail of Lights" is free. However, donations to the Friends of Lake Hope State Park are encouraged. The trail is open 6 to 10 p.m. nightly through December 31 with special activities, snacks and more planned at the nature center each Friday and Saturday evening until Christmas.
On Saturday, December 8, the park is offering free horse-drawn wagon rides from 4 to 7 p.m., along with visits from Santa, model train displays and other activities at the nature center.
Ohio State Parks is encouraging conservation with this year's display, which features motion-activated, low-voltage and some solar-powered lights.
