The Sportsmen’s Migratory Bird Center (SMBC) located at Magee Marsh Wildlife Area has been reopened according to the ODNR Division of Wildlife.

FINDLAY, OH - The Sportsmen’s Migratory Bird Center (SMBC) located at Magee Marsh Wildlife Area has been reopened according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The facility had been closed to the public since March due to a water leak on the second floor.
Water had covered approximately 20 percent of the second floor and damaged both the men’s and women’s restrooms and the aquarium room on the first floor. Fortunately none of the displays were damaged by the water leak, and professional engineers have examined and repaired the building.
The Sportsmen’s Migratory Bird Center features many different displays, more than 300 mounted animal specimens, a children’s touch table and an activity center with aquariums and terrariums filled with native wildlife. The facility is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturdays only during the months of April and May.
Magee Marsh State Wildlife Area in Lucas and Ottawa counties is recognized as one of the nation’s premier birding destinations. It offers thousands of acres along the western Lake Erie shoreline ideal for viewing the spring migration activities of warblers, tanagers, orioles and grosbeaks.
