The Ohio Lake Erie Commission will hold its quarterly meeting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at the Liberty Aviation Museum, located at 3515 E. State Road, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452.
Photo Contest Winners, 2012 Ohio Lake Erie Awards to be Announced
SANDUSKY, OH - The Ohio Lake Erie Commission (OLEC) will hold its quarterly meeting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at the Liberty Aviation Museum, located at 3515 E. State Road, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452. The meeting is open to the public.
The meeting topics will include announcing the winners of the 2012 “Life on Lake Erie” photo contest and approving nominations for the Ohio Lake Erie Award, which honors an individual and organization working to protect and restore Lake Erie. The Ohio Coastweeks Program will be discussed as well as the Lake Erie Protection and Restoration Plan. Funding for the Lake Erie Protection Fund grant proposals will also be awarded.
All OLEC meetings are open to the public and include a public comment period. Organizations and citizens are encouraged to attend this meeting and provide input on issues of concern.
OLEC was established for the purpose of preserving Lake Erie's natural resources, protecting the quality of its waters and ecosystem and promoting economic development in the region. The director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) serves as the commission's chairman. Additional members include the directors of the state departments of Transportation, Health, Development, Agriculture and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
