Hocking Hills woodland owners with 2-10 acres of woods and area cabin owners are invited to attend a public landowner meeting about efforts to benefit their woods.
LOGAN, OH – Hocking Hills woodland owners with 2-10 acres of woods and area cabin owners are invited to attend a public landowner meeting about efforts to benefit their woods on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Logan-Hocking Middle School, located at 1 Middle School Drive, Logan. Woodland owners are also encouraged to fill out a short survey that will help frame an area forestry plan, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ (ODNR) Division of Forestry.
“Landowners can benefit in many ways from this targeted effort, and their participation is important to the process,” said Robert Boyles, state forester and chief of ODNR’s Division of Forestry. “We want to provide landowners with options to increase their benefits from woodlands while providing an area-wide framework for addressing forest loss, fragmentation and other threats to forest health.”
The broad-scale forest management plan will be designed to benefit landowners in several areas along the US Highway 33 corridor, including Berne Township and the community of Sugar Grove in Fairfield County. The plan will also include the community of Logan in Hocking County as well as Benton, Falls, Good Hope, Green and Laurel townships.
The survey results will be accepted through Dec. 6. The survey is available at surveymonkey.com/s/G8WQBT5 or by contacting Cotton Randall at cotton.randall@dnr.state.oh.us or 614-265-6667.
