ATHENS, OH - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ (ODNR) Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management will hold an open-house style public information meeting to take public comments and answer questions about Ohio’s Class II injection wells. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 28 from 6-8 p.m. at the ODNR Division of Wildlife District 4 headquarters, which is located at 360 E. State St., Athens.
The meeting will facilitate an exchange of information between division staff and citizens interested in commenting on or learning more about Class II injection wells, including those in Athens County. The meeting will feature a number of stations staffed by regulatory and geologic experts who will respond to questions and concerns from attendees. ODNR will also invite written comments and questions that staff will respond to in writing at a later date.
For public safety considerations, only small personal items and purses will be permitted inside the venue. All bags may be subject to inspection by law enforcement. The fire marshal’s room occupancy limit of 120 will be enforced. Out of courtesy to the proceedings and participants, no video cameras, demonstrations or signs and banners will be permitted inside the venue. A free-speech zone will be designated outside for those wishing to display signs and banners.
Anyone who wishes to make a comment or ask a question on this subject but is unable to attend may send an email to oilandgas@dnr.state.oh.us.
