The ODNR Office of Coastal Management will host the quarterly meeting of the Coastal Resources Advisory Council on Thursday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Lorain County Visitors Bureau.
AMHERST, OH – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ (ODNR) Office of Coastal Management will host the quarterly meeting of the Coastal Resources Advisory Council on Thursday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Lorain County Visitors Bureau, 8025 Leavitt Road, Amherst.
Three new appointees will join the council at the meeting in which ODNR Office of Coastal Management staff will provide an update and seek feedback on a number of projects being implemented by ODNR including the Lake Erie Shore Erosion Management Plan (LESEMP).
The plan identifies causes of erosion along reaches of shore that have similar habitat and geology and then sets forth recommendations to address those erosion issues. The objective of the reach-based approach is to enhance the effectiveness of erosion control solutions. The LESEMP does not contain any regulatory oversight provisions. It is developed through a partnership between ODNR’s Office of Coastal Management and ODNR’s Divisions of Wildlife and Geological Survey. Fact sheets for completed reaches of LESEMP are found online at LakeErie.ohiodnr.com/Erosion.
New members joining the council for the December meeting include Kenneth Alvey, Leslie Korenko and Douglas Natoce.
Alvey is president of the Lake Erie Marine Trades Association, director of the Boating Association of Ohio and retired after serving as the ODNR Division of Watercraft chief from 2002-2005. He began his career with ODNR in 1972 as a watercraft officer and currently lives in Cuyahoga County.

In April 2012, she received the Ohio Genealogical Society's Henry Howe Award for an outstanding history book. He retired from ODNR after serving as the law enforcement chief from 1998-2007. He also was a supervisor with ODNR's Division of Watercraft Office in Cleveland from 1993-1998 after beginning his career with ODNR in 1980. Natoce is a littoral property owner in Catawba Island Township (Ottawa County) and also owns a 60-acre tree farm in Knox County.
