The Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ (ODNR) Division of Forestry invites public review and comments on a draft plan to assist woodland owners in the Hocking Hills area.
COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ (ODNR) Division of Forestry invites public review and comments on a draft plan to assist woodland owners in the Hocking Hills area.
“The Hocking Hills area is a unique part of the state that is characterized by its scenic woodlands,” said Robert Boyles, state forester and chief of the ODNR Division of Forestry. “We want to give landowners options that increase the benefits they enjoy from their woodlands while providing an area-wide framework to address forest loss, fragmentation and other threats to forest health.”
The broad-scale woodland management plan was designed to benefit willing participants who own small woodlands (2-10 acres) and cabin owners in several areas along the U.S. Highway 33 corridor, including Berne Township and the community of Sugar Grove in Fairfield County. The plan will also include the community of Logan in Hocking County as well as Benton, Falls, Falls-Gore, Good Hope, Green and Laurel townships.
Comments will be accepted through Feb. 1. The draft plan is available at http://ohiodnr.com/Default.aspx?tabid=24187 or by contacting Cotton Randall at Cotton.Randall@dnr.state.oh.us or 614-265-6667.
