01/14/09 The Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (OFSWCD) will hold its 66th Annual Meeting January 19-22.
Federation of Conservation Districts Holds Annual Meeting Next Week
COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (OFSWCD) will hold its 66th Annual Meeting January 19-22, at the Columbus Renaissance Hotel, 50 North 3rd Street in Columbus.
The Directors Panel will be held on January 20 after the Opening Ceremonies. Ohio Department of Natural Resources Director Sean Logan, Ohio Environmental Protection Agency Director Chris Korleski and Ohio Department of Agriculture Director Robert Boggs will participate. They will discuss issues that relate to the three agencies.
An awards banquet will be held that evening. At that time, newly elected supervisors will be sworn in to office.
Informational and educational workshops on topics such as the drainage initiative, fiscal officer training, Gulf of Mexico Hypoxia issue, watershed program development, SWIMS and the Upper Scioto Water Quality Trading Proposal will be offered. The ODNR Division of Soil and Water Conservation helped organize the workshops on topics related to SWCDs, elected supervisors and staff.
Organizations and citizens are encouraged to attend the Partnership Luncheon on January 21. Larry Long, executive director of the County Commissioners' Association of Ohio, will be the guest speaker.
Event sponsors include Farm Credit Services of Mid-America, Aqua Doc Online, Baughman Tile, Inc., Fifth Third Bank and JF New.
