Ohio Botanical Symposium Set for April 3 in Columbus
Botanists, naturalists and native plant enthusiasts encouraged to attend the day-long event
COLUMBUS, OH – Biodiversity, pollinators, habitat restoration, rare plant discoveries, and native ferns are some of the topics to be discussed on Friday, April 3, during the 9th Annual Ohio Botanical Symposium.
Sponsored by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Cleveland Museum of Natural History, The Nature Conservancy and The Ohio State University, the event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Villa Milano, 1630 Schrock Road in north Columbus.
Keynote speaker Dr. W. Hardy Esbaugh, a professor emeritus from Miami University, is scheduled to discuss the challenges of biodiversity conservation in Ohio and elsewhere. Other featured speakers include Dr. Karen Goodell and Dr. Landon Rhodes from The Ohio State University, Dr. R. James Hickey from Miami University and John Watts from the Columbus & Franklin County Metroparks.
The event will also feature a media show and displays from a number private and public conservation organizations and vendors offering conservation-related items for purchase.
The $25 attendance fee includes conference materials, continental breakfast, buffet lunch and break refreshments. Registrations will be accepted until March 31. For registration forms and more details, visit or contact the Division at (614) 265-6419.
