Ginseng Diggers Need Documentation for Roots Harvested in 2008

Deadline is March 31

COLUMBUS, OH - Any ginseng dealer, buyer or digger holding over ginseng root collected in 2008 needs to have all uncertified root weighed and accounted for before the buying season closes, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife.
 
According to state law, all ginseng possessed or held by dealers, buyers and any other persons after March 31st of each year must be certified for export or it must be weighed and documented by the Division of Wildlife. Those individuals found in possession of ginseng after March 31, 2009 will be subject to prosecution.
 
The documentation or "weight slips" will be issued at the locations and dates below unless other arrangements have been made. There is no fee for the weight slips. It is suggested that those needing the documentation call ahead to make an appointment.
