ODNR Realigns Northwest State Park Regions

COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources announced today state park regional realignments and manager assignments are planned in northwest Ohio effective the first of April.

The Lake Erie Islands state park region will merge with the East Harbor state park region as part of the Ohio State Park's ongoing efforts to make regional realignments for the purpose of providing better services with limited resources. "The years of experience and skill sets of our regional management staff make these realignments possible", said Dan West, chief of Ohio State Parks.

The new East Harbor/Lake Erie Islands Region will include East Harbor and Marblehead Lighthouse state parks, along with Catawba Island, Kelleys Island, South Bass Island, Middle Bass Island and North Bass Island state parks. Ina Brolis, the current East Harbor Regional Manager, will assume the addition of the Lake Erie Island state parks as part of her new regional responsibilities. "I am looking forward to working with the island communities and welcome the additional parks", Regional Manager Brolis stated. Brolis has been with Ohio State Parks for 29 years and assigned to East Harbor for the past 18 of those years.

The current Lake Erie Islands Regional Manager, Scott Doty, will be assuming the regional manager role for the expansive Maumee Bay Region which includes a full-service resort lodge and conference center along the shores of Lake Erie just east of Toledo. Last year the Maumee Bay Region merged with the Harrison Lake Region and now includes Harrison Lake, Mary Jane Thurston, Van Buren and Independence Dam state parks in addition to Maumee Bay State Park. Scott Doty has over 29 years with Ohio State Parks with the last 10 ½ years at the Lake Erie Islands. Prior to being assigned there, he was the assistant manager at Maumee Bay. Regional Manager Doty said, "I am very happy to be returning to the Maumee Bay area and am excited about the new opportunities and challenges of this region".

The Maumee Bay Regional Manager, Jim Brower, is retiring March 31st with 33 ½ years of service with Ohio State Parks.
