1/17/08 - Applications For Forest Legacy Program - Program pays landowners who are seeking to protect their woodlands

Woodland owners in 31 northeastern and southeastern Ohio counties can now apply for participation in a federal conservation easement program that provides a one-time payment in exchange for voluntarily agreeing to permanently maintain their woods as working forests.

12/20/07 - Firewise Ohio Grants Awarded

Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department and Elm Grove Volunteer Fire Department in Pike County recently received Firewise Hazard Mitigation Grants through the ODNR Division of Forestry. Jackson Township VFD received a $5,190 grant and Elm Grove VFD received $3,100.

11/27/70 Columbia Gas Transmission to begin Limited Clearing at Eight Gas Storage Wells in Mohican-Memorial State Forest

As part of an agreement signed in February of this year that limits impacts of gas well maintenance clearing activities, Columbia Gas Transmission will begin work the first week of December to remove trees around eight gas storage wells located within Mohican-Memorial State Forest and Mohican State Park.
