Mineral resources professionals from Ohio and surrounding states will discuss current issues, research and technologies related to mining, oil and gas drilling, conservation and reclamation during the seventh annual Applied Research Conference, hosted by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Mineral Resources Management. The conference is scheduled for Wednesday, and Thursday, December 5-6, at Ohio University in Athens.

ODNR will hold a public meeting in Athens on Tuesday, October 23 to discuss proposed abandoned mine projects being considered in six southeastern Ohio counties. The meeting is set for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the conference room of the ODNR Division of Wildlife district office at 360 E. State Street.
