ODNR APPLAUDS THE WORK OF REP. LATOURETTE IN SECURING FEDERAL FUNDING FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO PUNDERSON STATE PARK LODGE

COLUMBUS, OH - Punderson State Park Lodge in Geauga County will soon benefit from $98,000 in federal funding obtained through the efforts of U.S. Rep. Steven LaTourette.

LaTourette represents Ohio's 14th Congressional District, including Ashtabula, Lake and Geauga counties, as well as parts of Trumbull, Summit, Cuyahoga and Portage counties.

The $98,000 earmarked for Punderson State Park Lodge (Manor House) will help fund a redesign of the facility's antiquated windows, heating, cooling and water-heating systems to make them more energy efficient. The improvements, aimed at making Punderson Manor House a national model of energy conservation and management, will enhance the lodge's environment for customers and employees. The intent of theimprovements is toreplace existing systems with modern, high-efficiency ones, including individual room heating and cooling units and on-demand hot water spigots.

Construction on the Tudor-style Punderson Manor House began in 1929, but was not completed until 1948. The manor house was remodeled and opened to the public as part of Punderson State Park in 1956. A structural renovation of the facility was completed in 1982. Punderson Manor House features 31 guest rooms, a full-service dining room, conference and banquet rooms, and outdoor and indoor pools. It is one of nine resort lodges in Ohio State Parks.

LaTourette also obtained $2.8 million to complete dredging of the Ashtabula River and Harbor in Ashtabula and dredge downstream from the Fifth Street Bridge, as well as numerous other projects. All monies were included in the $555 billion federal budget signed into law on December 26.
