GOVERNOR APPOINTS WOOD COUNTY RESIDENT TO STATE PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD

COLUMBUS, OH – Governor Ted Strickland recently appointed John Jaeger of Perrysburg in Wood County to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Council of Ohio State Parks.

The seven-member council advises the chief of Ohio State Parks and makes recommendations in the areas of park development, policy, planning, programming, financing and acquisition. Jaeger will serve for three years and will represent the interests of the metropolitan park districts.

He is currently the director of natural resources for the Metropolitan Park District of the Toledo Area, which oversees more than 9,100 acres of public recreational lands. Jaeger holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and anthropology and a secondary teaching certificate in social studies.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Council of Ohio State Parks includes two members of the general public and one member representing each of the following areas: municipal parks, metropolitan park districts, conservancy districts, soil and water conservation districts and private recreational facilities. All members are appointed by the governor.
