HARVEST SEASON FESTIVALS MAKE OHIO FUN IN THE FALL!

COLUMBUS, OH - Agriculture remains a large part of the fabric that makes up Ohio, and harvest time brings that truth home. Seasonal festivals are brimming with fall goodness, featuring bushels of squash and apples along with rows of golden pumpkins. These autumn festivals are full of homespun pastimes that remind us of quieter days gone by.
An early fall favorite takes place at Malabar Farm State Park in Richland County. Ohio Heritage Days, September 22-23, is one of the state’s largest outdoor craft and history festivals. It features more than 70 craftspeople in period clothing, demonstrating the arts of spinning, weaving, woodworking, broom making, and more.
Ohio’s thriving grape industry celebrates the fall harvest during the Geneva Grape JAMboree, Sept. 29-30. About 1,500 acres of grapes are grown each year in the Geneva area. Savor the great taste of grapes as freshly squeezed juice, in pies and other baked goods, ice cream, and a myriad of other grape ways!
Indulge your senses and taste for history during the 38th Annual Apple Butter Stirrin’ festival at Historic Roscoe Village in Coshocton County. During the mid-1800s, this town flourished along the Ohio & Erie Canal, playing an integral role in the development of our young state. From October 19-21, enjoy costumed vendors selling their harvest wares, take a canal boat ride, sample apple butter, and other seasonal treats as you stroll these streets of yesteryear.
Step back in time during Ashtabula County’s Covered Bridge Festival, which spans October 13-14. There are more covered bridges in this northeast Ohio county – 16 to be exact – than anywhere else in the state. As you explore these bridges that harken back to earlier days, enjoy many crafts, historical vehicles, a Farmers Market, quilt show, draft horses and more.
