ODNR Division of Mineral Resources Management - Oil and Gas

Oil and Gas Well Production / RBDMS

Production

The law requires the owner of any well capable of producing oil and gas to report oil, gas and brine production data annually on each well to the Division by March 1 for the preceding calendar year (Ohio Revised Code Section 1509.11). Exempt domestic well owners are not required to file production statements.

Annual production information may be obtained electronically, by year, beginning in calendar year 1984. Each record has the following fields: production year, county, township, API well number, permit number, owner name, well name, well number, oil (barrels), gas (mcf), brine (barrels), days in production, date completed and the plugging date (if applicable). These files are in an Excel spreadsheet which has been compressed  into an .exe file.

Production data is compiled based upon the information provided to us by the oil and gas well owners. Therefore, the Division can neither guarantee the accuracy of the information, nor guarantee that the information set forth herein reflects all of the production of oil and gas that has occurred in a county or year.

Risk Based Data Management System (RBDMS) Database

The RBDMS contains comprehensive well data for over 100,000 wells permitted since 1980. Historical well card information from Division of Geological Survey for wells permitted before 1980 has also been added to the database. RBDMS requires Microsoft Access and at least 700mb of hard drive space to run. It can be downloaded from the above link or is available on CD for free by contacting Vickie McKinney at (614) 265-6916.

Download RBDMS Weekly Update
The weekly update database was created to update local RBDMS databases through the Internet. Each week, a file of additions and changes is added. Copy this database weekly to keep current. Update sequentially from the oldest week to the most recent. Click on the 2000_ver folder for the updates for Access 2000 or later versions.
