OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES KICKS OFF
ANNUAL GREAT AMERICAN CLEANUP

COLUMBUS, OH -- Representatives of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and the Kroger Company will join more than 400 volunteers for Ohio’s kick-off of the Great American Cleanup, America’s largest organized cleanup and beautification campaign.

Sponsored in Ohio by the ODNR Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention’s Keep Ohio Beautiful program, the campaign will be kicked-off on Saturday, April 15 at Caesar Creek State Park in Waynesville. Volunteers should register and park at the Visitor Center on Clarksville Road.

Cleanup, beautification and groundskeeping activities will begin at 9 a.m. and continue throughout the day. Sorted recyclables will also be collected at the Caesar Creek State Park beach between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Volunteers will be rewarded for their efforts with a cookout and the chance to win a Yard-Man lawnmower.

At 1 p.m., officials from the Kroger Company will present ODNR with a $25,000 check to be used to support additional cleanup and beautification activities around the state.

More than 100 communities will participate in this year’s Great American Cleanup, which is sponsored annually by Keep America Beautiful, the Fort James Corporation, Pepsi-Cola Company, the Glad Products Company, the Sherwin-Williams Company, Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company and Yard-Man by MTD. Ohio is one of 31 states chosen this year to conduct a statewide cleanup campaign.
