TOM PASCOE REAPPOINTED TO WATERWAYS SAFETY COUNCIL

COLUMBUS, OH - Governor Bob Taft has reappointed Tom Pascoe of Sandusky, to a five-year term on the Waterways Safety Council, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Watercraft.

Pascoe was first appointed to the council on June 1, 1991. Last month he was reelected to a second term as council chairman.

A 1962 graduate of Sandusky High School, Pascoe went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration in 1967 from Otterbein College in Westerville. From 1967-1997, Pascoe was vice president and secretary of the Pascoe Insurance Agency in Sandusky. He also worked as a part time police officer for the Village of Put-In-Bay on South Bass Island.

After obtaining his certified Ohio peace officer training from Sandusky Academy in 1980, Pascoe has served as a part time Erie County sheriff's deputy. Additionally, Pascoe currently is a licensed charter captain and pilots a corporate vessel for South Shore Transportation, Inc. He presently is serving as chairman of the Perkins Township Board of Trustees in Erie County.

A member of the U.S. Army Reserves from 1967-1972, Pascoe has remained actively involved with local conservation and boating groups, including membership in the Sandusky Charter Boat Association, the Inter Lake Yachting Association, Ducks Unlimited, and the Ohio Waterways Safety Council.

His renewed five-year term is due to expires January, 2005.

The five-member citizen advisory council, appointed by the Governor, provides input to the Division of Watercraft on boating-related issues.
