ODNR RESOURCE PLANNER RECEIVES NATIONAL RECOGNITION AWARD

COLUMBUS, OH - Mary Fitch, a recreational resource planner in the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Watercraft, has been honored with the Distinguished Service Award by the National Association of Recreation Resource Planners.

The award is presented to no more than three recipients nationally who have made significant contributions to the recreation resource planning profession.

Fitch was honored for her grant writing efforts in helping secure two federal grants totaling $1.8 million toward the development of the new Middle Bass Island State Park in Lake Erie’s western basin.

A resident of Alexandria in Licking County, Fitch joined the ODNR Division of Watercraft resource planning staff in September 2000. She previously was employed by ODNR as a state lands planner, and has extensive experience in private industry as a landscape architect. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in landscape architecture from Ohio State University.
