OHIO STATE PARKS SCHEDULE EVENTS
FOR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS, GIRL SCOUTS
School Days scheduled in seven parks; Paint Creek and Lake Hope to host Girl Scouts

COLUMBUS, OH -- More than 8,000 third, fourth and fifth grade students are expected to participate in Ohio State Parks' School Days events during April and May, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

Since 1988, School Days have provided more than 110,000 elementary students an opportunity to experience Ohio's great outdoors in springtime while learning about the state's wildlife, ecology and cultural history. Each School Day is about four hours long and consists of a series of 20-minute educational sessions, along with a "fun fair" with ongoing activities and exhibits.

Session topics include Ohio's wild animals, water safety and ecological principles. School Days events are free to participating schools, but require pre-registration.

Ohio State Parks will also host two events for Girl Scouts in April and May. Paint Creek State Park will host a Sample Chores Day on April 20 and a Girl Scout Open House on April 21 at the newly renovated Williams Cabin in the park's Pioneer Village. Sample Chores Day will provide participants with a glimpse into everyday life on the Ohio frontier. Call toll free 800-621-7041 for registration information.
