“PLANT PRIDE, NOT LITTER”
DURING MOTORIST AWARENESS DAY ON APRIL 27

COLUMBUS, OH -- Many Ohio fast-food restaurants, banks, car washes and litter prevention programs will be “planting pride” on Saturday, April 27, by distributing car litter bags to patrons in celebration of Motorist Awareness Day, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

Governor Bob Taft has officially designated the last Saturday in April as Motorist Awareness Day, a one-day litter prevention campaign developed by the ODNR Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention. This day is set aside to encourage Ohio motorists to dispose of their trash properly and to educate the public about the harmful impact of littering on communities.

“Motorists are a primary source of litter in Ohio, and we want to encourage travelers to “plant pride” in their community by using litter bags in their car,” said Ron Kolbash, chief of Recycling & Litter Prevention.

Motorist Awareness Day is part of Take Pride, Ohio! Month, celebrated each April. “Plant Pride, Not Litter” is ODNR's statewide litter prevention and beautification program. Member communities provide litter prevention and beautification opportunities at the local level.
