ODNR ANNOUNCES GRANTS TO IMPROVE 20 BOATING ACCESS FACILITIES ACROSS OHIO
COLUMBUS, OH - Boating access will be improved along 20 Ohio waterways thanks to more than $3.2 million in recently awarded grants, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). The grant awards range from a low of $3,700 for erosion control in Muskingum County to a high of $600,500 for a new boat launch facility in Pickaway County.
Other funded projects include replacement and repair of existing boating facilities and construction of new facilities. Project proposals were competitively judged by the ODNR Division of Watercraft to determine funding priority.
The grants are made available through the Ohio Waterways Safety Fund, which is supported by boat registration fees, a portion of the state motor fuel tax and funding from the U.S. Coast Guard.
These Cooperative Boating Facility Program grants are awarded and administered by the Division of Watercraft to improve boating access for the states estimated 3 million recreational boaters.
Additional information on Cooperative Boating Facility grants and other watercraft agency grants can be obtained on the ODNR Internet web page at ohiodnr.com or by writing to ODNR Division of Watercraft, 4435 Fountain Square Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43224.
