COLUMBUS, OH -- Chris Grupenhof, manager of Scioto Trail and Great Seal state parks in Ross County, has received the first-ever Ohio State Parks' Service & Stewardship Award, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR)
The award recognizes Grupenhof's efforts to successfully implement planned improvements this past year at the two state parks he oversees.
"We are proud of Chris' relentless perseverance and enthusiastic attitude as he worked to provide park visitors the best experience possible," said Dan West, chief of Ohio State Parks.
Grupenhof, with the help of local community groups, was responsible for many park improvements that included a new picnic shelter house and nature center at Scioto Trail. Working with the ODNR Division of Wildlife, he tackled the impressive task of successfully restoring Caldwell Lake at Scioto Trail, which now features an outstanding swimming beach and recreational fishery.
Ohio's 74 state parks encompass eight resort lodges, six golf courses, more than 500 cottages and 57 campgrounds with more than 9,000 campsites. For additional information, visit the ohiodnr.com web site.
