COLUMBUS, OH -- A group of employees from Geneva State Park in Ashtabula County have received the Ohio State Parks "Team Of The Year" Award, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). The award recognizes the employees' year-long effort to make 12 new cedar cabins a reality at the park.
"In addition to their regular duties, the Geneva State Park team put forth extra effort to see this cabin project through," said Dan West, chief of Ohio State Parks. "And last fall their hard work was rewarded when the cabins opened to high praise from the community and park visitors. They have a right to be proud of their work, which has expanded the recreational opportunities available at this state park for many years to come."
Geneva State Park employees who were part of the cabin development team include: Rick Alderman, Robert Alderman, Sharon Bezoski, Pat Burgett, Kelly Fisher, Ray Frabotta, Sarah Grenier, John Kerzic, Debbie Kessler, Kim Kessler, Marian King, Erin Lillis, Jim Petro, Maureen Sallach and Darrell Stancliff.
The "Team Of The Year" Award was established by Ohio State Parks in 1998 to recognize employees and volunteers who work together in an exceptional way to complete a complex project to benefit park customers.
Ohio's 74 state parks encompass eight resort lodges, six golf courses, more than 500 cottages and 57 campgrounds with more than 9,000 campsites. For additional information, visit the ohiodnr.com web site.
