COLUMBUS DISPATCH TRAVEL REPORTER RECEIVES OHIO STATE PARKS AWARD

COLUMBUS, OH – Steve Stephens, a travel writer with The Columbus Dispatch newspaper, has been recognized for his professionalism and exceptional writing about Ohio’s state parks with the Ohio State Parks Chief’s Award, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

The Chief’s Award is designed to recognize truly outstanding service and support of Ohio State Parks by an individual or group. It is the division’s highest honor and has been given only eight times before.

“Over the past two years, readers of The Columbus Dispatch have been given an insightful and entertaining look at Ohio State Parks in a series of feature stories in the Sunday Travel section,” said Ohio State Parks Chief Dan West. “Steve has made his stories more informative and useful to his readers by experiencing state parks firsthand, staying in our resort lodges, criss-crossing the state to enjoy our cottages and even camping in one of our getaway rental tepees at Indian Lake.”

Through his feature articles, Steve has told the Ohio State Parks story – terrific people working hard to care for parks, offering some of Ohio’s most beautiful and interesting places to visit.

Stephens has been a reporter at the Dispatch since 1985.
