First event is scheduled for Saturday, April 7 at Lake Hope State Park
COLUMBUS, OH - A series of 13 organized events are scheduled for Ohio State Parks this spring and summer, encouraging visitors to get involved in a wide variety of outdoor physical pursuits in some of the state’s most scenic natural places.
The first "Get Fit Naturally" event is scheduled for noon on Saturday, April 7 at Lake Hope State Park in Vinton County. Participants will compete in biking, running and walking on the park's trails. Competitions are scheduled for all age groups.
The events coincide with mountain bike races sponsored by the Ohio Mountain Bike Association.
"Ohio State Parks are the perfect recreational venues for families," said Dan West, chief of Ohio State Parks. "And with the 'Get Fit Naturally' program we can encourage adults, teens and youngsters to have fun together and improve their physical fitness."
Ohio's state parks boast more than 1,100 miles of recreational trails and 80 swimming beaches, promoting exercise that is fun and that whole families can enjoy together.
