BUCKEYE LAKE STATE PARK WINS AWARD FOR
RESPONSIVENESS AND ADAPTABILITY
COLUMBUS, OH The staff of Buckeye Lake State Park in Licking and Fairfield counties has received the “Gazelle Award” from Ohio State Parks for their outstanding performance and ability to adapt quickly to change.
The award recognizes Buckeye Lake State Park’s solid management principles and interpersonal finesse in dealing with members of the local community, as well as the visiting public.
“Historically, this park has had more than its fair share of issues and challenges,” said Ohio State Parks Chief Dan West. “Now they’re reaping the rewards of positive accolades, community support and volunteerism, as well as the completion of added value projects for the public.”
Among the most recent achievements at the park are a refined dock management program and an effort to rehabilitate an historic structure and create a new public beach area.
Ohio’s 74 state parks include nine resort lodges, more than 500 cottages and 56 family campgrounds with more than 9,000 campsites.
