STAFF MEMBERS FROM NORTH-CENTRAL OHIO STATE PARKS
HONORED WITH “TEAM OF THE YEAR” AWARD
COLUMBUS, OH A group of state park staff members from north-central Ohio’s Mohican Region received the 2006 “Team Of The Year Award” for their quick action following severe storms and flooding that raked the area last July.
Employees Jim O’Brien, Louis Andres, Brian Andrews, Kelly Overly and Jason Wesley helped in the evacuation of 600 visitors from the campground at Mohican State Park following the storm. In addition, the valuable agricultural library at Malabar Farm State Park was saved when staff members moved quickly to place tarps over the building’s storm-damaged roof.
“The quick response, hard work and team effort from every level of staff within the region helped repair the damage and allowed both Malabar Farm and Mohican state parks to reopen to the public within days of these severe storms,” said Dan West, chief of Ohio State Parks, in presenting the award.
There are 74 Ohio State Parks encompassing nine resort lodges, more than 500 cottages and 56 family campgrounds with more than 9,000 sites.
