FISH MANAGEMENT ADMINISTRATOR APPOINTED
AS ASSISTANT CHIEF OF ODNR DIVISION OF WILDLIFE

COLUMBUS, OH – Randy Miller has been named assistant chief of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. Miller was previously assistant administrator of fish management and research for the division. Miller begins his new appointment August 14, filling a vacancy created with the transfer of former assistant chief Ken Fritz to ODNR’s Office of Information Technology.

Miller, 43, joined ODNR in 1980 as a park ranger assigned to Deer Creek State Park in south-central Ohio. He then became a fish management unit leader for the Division of Wildlife at Delaware Lake in 1981 and later a fisheries biologist for the wildlife division’s central Ohio district. Miller was promoted in 1991 to assistant fish management and research administrator at the division’s Fountain Square administrative headquarters, where he has been in charge of Ohio’s inland fisheries management team.

In his new position as one of the Division of Wildlife's two assistant chiefs, Miller will have management responsibility for fiscal, human resources, environmental, and federal aid and planning sections in addition to statewide district operations.

"This is an excellent opportunity for Randy to join our senior staff along with assistant chief Steve Gray and our group administrators. He is an exemplary addition to the executive staff," said Division of Wildlife Chief Mike Budzik.

Miller and his wife, Loretta, reside in New Holland in Fayette County with their children Alison and Dan. Miller also is an avid fisherman and hunter who graduated in 1979 from The Ohio State University with a degree in fisheries management.
