WEST BRANCH STATE PARK TO SHOW OFF NEW DOCKS AND
FISHING PLATFORM AT SEPTEMBER 2 OPEN HOUSE
RAVENNA, OH—West Branch State Park is hosting an open house from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, September 2, at the marina to showcase recent improvements to the park’s boating and fishing facilities.
The public is invited to attend and enjoy free refreshments. Lake cruises and other specials will be available through the marina. Park staff will be on hand to greet visitors and answer questions about the renovation.
The $2 million project replaced all 200 of the park’s 30-year-old boat docks. Nearly 300 of the 314 new docks are designated for seasonal use, with the remaining reserved as courtesy docks.
The project also involved construction of a new 250-foot breakwall, topped with a 16-by-100-foot wheelchair-accessible fishing platform, to provide great shoreline fishing opportunities. Marina walkways and restrooms were renovated for wheelchair access. The existing pump-out and gasoline dock facilities were modified to provide better service for boaters. ODNR’s Division of Wildlife contributed $75,000 to construct the fishing platform
The West Branch State Park Marina is located on the southeast side of the lake on East Cable Line Road. From State Route 225, take East Cable Line Road west about three miles to the park entrance. Follow the signs to the marina.
