HINES NAMED AS ODNR’S CONSERVATION ENGINEERING ADMINISTRATOR

COLUMBUS, OH -- Lancaster resident Kirk E. Hines, a professional engineer, was recently promoted to conservation engineering administrator at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

In his new position, Hines will supervise five natural resources engineers working on conservation and water resource projects in Ohio's 88 county soil and water conservation districts (SWCDs). He will be involved in developing new water pollution control practices for the state and will help determine clean-up costs associated with agricultural pollution sites. Hines will coordinate engineering assistance and training for SWCDs with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service.

“Kirk Hines and the division's five natural resources engineers will allow ODNR to provide more engineering assistance to Ohio's county soil and water conservation districts,” said Larry Vance, chief of ODNR's Division of Soil & Water Conservation. “In turn, those county districts will be better able to provide technical support to individual farmers and landowners. The end result will be cleaner water for all Ohioans.”

Previously, Hines was a natural resources engineer, serving 17 county soil and water conservation districts in south-central Ohio. He has also served as agricultural engineer and supervising engineer for the Fairfield County Soil & Water Conservation District.
