“PROJECT WILD” FACILITATOR TRAINING WORKSHOP TO BE HELD SEPTEMBER 18-19

COLUMBUS, OH – Registrations are now being accepted for the upcoming “Project WILD” facilitator training workshop to be held September 18-19 at Recreation Unlimited in Delaware County. Sponsored by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife, Project WILD is a national program emphasizing wildlife conservation and environmental education to students in kindergarten through high school.

Since 1986, more than 40,000 Ohio educators have participated in the program. Teachers attending the six-hour program will receive resource materials they can use to train other teachers.

“According to a study conducted by The Ohio State University, teachers found great value in the training sessions and the materials,” said Jen Dennison, education coordinator for the ODNR Division of Wildlife. “They felt comfortable using and adapting the materials to their needs, and they felt Project WILD helped them meet current state education standards.”

The Project WILD materials are available to educators only through attendance at a six hour Project WILD workshop. Persons attending the workshop on Sept 18-19 will become part of a network of volunteers who lead these educator workshops.

Educators seeking more information about this training opportunity should call 1-800-WILDLIFE. Space is limited to 40 persons. The workshop will be filled on a first come-first served basis by receipt of the application and the $45 registration fee.

Continuing education credit (CEU’s) will be made available upon the discretion of the local curriculum development committee. Appropriate forms for submission will be provided upon completion of the workshop.
