RECYCLED MATERIALS DECORATE ELYRIA'S
EAST FALLS RIVER WALK

COLUMBUS, OH - A new walkway and public park area with benches, tables and other fixtures made entirely of recycled-content products was dedicated today at East Falls River Walk in Elyria.

Sam Speck, director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), joined city officials to dedicate the refurbished East Falls River Walk, which winds through a revitalized area along the Black River in downtown Elyria. The handicapped-accessible park contains benches and picnic tables made from 100 percent recycled plastic, as well as a 700-foot boardwalk constructed from recycled plastic and steel. In addition, the park's original lampposts were restored to provide lighting along the walkway.

“The East Falls River Walk project not only showcases some of the state’s natural beauty, but it also demonstrates the durability and usability of recycled-content products,” Director Speck said.

The $600,000 revitalization project was funded in part by grants from the ODNR Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention and the Lorain County Solid Waste Management District.
