OHIO STATE PARKS LODGES OFFER END OF SEASON SPECIALS
COLUMBUS, OH - With summer winding down, Ohio State Parks is offering special discount packages for families and seniors for the remainder of the recreational season.
“Summer may be leaving us soon, but plenty of excellent weather and fun remain at our parks,” said Dan West, chief of Ohio State Parks. “There’s so much to do at the parks that can be enjoyable for the entire family this time of year, including boating, fishing and hiking.”
New this year, “Family Getaway Packages,” available through October 31, range from $249 to $259 plus tax and feature a two-night stay in a room with two double beds, a $25 meal coupon and a choice of an activity at or near the state park resort. This package can be found at the following resort lodges: Maumee Bay, Salt Fork, Mohican, Hueston Woods, Punderson Manor and Shawnee. Seniors with a Golden Buckeye Card can enjoy discounts at Ohio State Parks year-round, including a 10 percent discount on all cottage and lodge reservations for weekdays and weekends.
This fall, members of AARP and the Golden Buckeye Card program can take advantage of extra savings with the “Super Senior Discount” - a 20 percent savings on rooms booked on Sunday through Thursday nights at participating state park lodges.
A stay at any of the state’s nine resort lodges comes with access to a swimming pool, dining, nature trails, great fishing and boating opportunities, and beautiful, relaxing scenery.
The lodge at Geneva State Park also offers packages for seniors and families. Its Family Fun Package, available Sunday through Thursday until September 1, includes a one-night stay and tickets to a local family fun center. Prices start at $159 plus tax. Senior travelers can enjoy a one-night stay starting at $115, that includes a $25 voucher for dinner. The package is available September 6 through the 29. Guests must show their Buckeye Card to get the discount.
The lodge at Deer Creek also has many family friendly specials for the end of the summer that feature plenty of activities and perks for the kids, and free breakfast for mom and dad. To take advantage of specials at Geneva call 1-800-801-9982 and Deer Creek call 1-877- 678-DEER.
State park cottages are also a great place to bring the family and can accommodate groups of all sizes. Prices start as low as $50 a night. All cottages feature fully equipped kitchens and appliances, television, dining area, and linens. Family cottages offer extra sleeping space with room for six and two bedrooms. Preferred cottages have gas log fireplaces and can include other features like a hot tub, telephone or Florida room. Standard cottages feature living and dining areas separated from sleeping facilities, a fully equipped kitchen, bed linens and towels.
