New Statewide Bedrock and Glacial Aquifer Maps and GIS Data Available
from Division of Water

New Ohio GIS coverages are now available for download. Coverages made from this new GIS data set are available in ArcInfo (.e00) export format or ArcView shapefile (.shp) format. The site also offers several ready-to-print statewide maps.

To download maps, GIS data or order a CD of this data set go to http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/water/samp/ and choose the "SAMP Products Distribution Page" link.

In March 2000 the Division of Water completed a series of aquifer maps that cover the entire state of Ohio. Separate maps were constructed for the bedrock and unconsolidated aquifers. All maps were prepared at a scale of 1:24,000 (1 inch equals 2000 feet), digitized into the GIS program ArcInfo, and then joined into statewide aquifer coverages. These coverages contain information on aquifer yield, thickness, boundries and names. Coverages are available in ArcInfo (.e00) export format or ArcView shapefile (.shp) format.

You may access these new data at: http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/water/samp/
