COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) recently received national recognition for boat ramp renovations completed this year at Cleveland Lakefront State Park.
The award was presented by the States Organization For Boating Access (SOBA) for quality, unique, economical and innovative projects that encompass day-use boat launching facilities and multiple boat launching ramps.
The improvements to the Lower Edgewater Park boat launch ramp included installation of eight new launch lanes, featuring special vehicle traction surfaces; more than 160 vehicle and boat trailer parking spaces; floating courtesy docks; a fixed concrete pier; increased lighting and other improvements.
Cleveland Lakefront State Park is the most heavily utilized of Ohios 73 state parks with more than 3,000,000 visitors annually. It is also a primary access point for boaters to Lake Erie.
SOBA represents a network of state boating officials, engineering firms, manufacturers, suppliers, publishers and other business people from all 50 states who are interested in promoting boating access.
